Vatican, Papal State. A Pontifical Equestrian Order of Saint Sylvester, I. Class Grand Cross, c.1930 Province of China 1916 in Langenschwalbach (Hesse)(Ordo Sancti Silvestri Papae Ordine di San Silvestro Papa). Instituted October 31st, 1841. A finely toned eight pointed star with five multi faceted quills per arm, obverse with a white enameled Maltese Cross with rays emanating from the center of the cross in the quadrants between the arms of the cross, with a central blue enameled medallion bearing the bust of St. Sylvester in gilt, surrounded by a broad gilt ring inscribed Sanc. Silvester. P. M in
